Featured Tech: The Whipper

Whipper-Banner.jpgNew to the fitness tracking world is the Whipper. It’s the worlds first climbing tracker. Yeah, yeah, yeah you already have a Fitbit or an Apple Watch or any other device that you strap to your person each morning and check throughout the day to see just how active you are. But that only goes so far. The Whipper is taking fitness tracking to whole new heights, literally.

What exactly is a Whipper?

Well there are two answers to that. A whipper in climbing lingo is when a climber takes a hard fall. The term whipper comes from the whipping motion the climber takes while falling. A capital W whipper is a, “lightweight clip-on tracker [that] detects your climbing movement with statistics including incline, falls, vertical feet, difficulty, and location.”

What does it do?

Well, like I said, a Whipper tracks your movements, vertical feet, difficulty, and location of your climb and gives you integrated statistics to look at and share with friends.

Why do I want one?

Why wouldn’t you want one? It’s a great way to see your climbing and track your climbing frequency. PLUS, it provides you with smart coaching that allows you to “get tailored feedback, training programs, progress analysis, and goal recommendations.”

I’m not quite sold. Where can I find out more information?

Head on over the the website to watch videos, see pictures, and read about just how awesome it is from the team that designed it.
